Today is the first day of Women’s History Month. Let’s celebrate! If you didn’t know, Sia Botanics is a woman-owned and women run company in Tucson, Arizona. If you’re new to the Sia Sisterhood or if you have been a part of our story from the start, we wanted to share some thoughts from our Founder, Christina Mahar, and why we are proud to deliver joy in the form of naturally powerful Sia Botanics skincare.
What is The Sia Sisterhood?
At the core of Sia Botanics is the concept of “Real people. Real products. Real results.”. People are intentionally listed first because they are the heart and soul of Sia Botanics’ unique community that has grown together in celebration of ageless beauty.
Sia Botanics offers a vibrant place for those who seek to inspire, support, and uplift each other. The team at Sia Botanics invites everyone to step into their world; where women are beautiful and kind, intelligent and sexy, imperfectly perfect just the way they are. The invitation encourages interested people to come as they are.
Who are your Professional Partners?
I am so proud that Sia Botanics has created an incredible community of female business owners. Our community includes some great ingredient suppliers that are certified women business owners as well as estheticians in the spas.
Becoming an amazing esthetician is one of the best entry points into becoming an entrepreneur and a business owner. It is a very female oriented industry filled with serious talent.
This path is fascinating because you don't necessarily have to have get an MBA or doctorate to be successful. What you do need is to be dedicated and ambitious.
What is the road to success?
I love supporting women who are driven! There is nothing that makes me happier than to watch the journey of an esthetician who starts in cosmetology school with limited confidence in herself who then rises to huge success.
The fact that a woman can start with a little home-based business or one little room that they're renting in a space and turn that into a spa that employs eight people, and then it turns into multiple locations is so inspiring.
There is nothing I won’t do to support women who have vision and drive. It’s so important to help each other see that success looks different for everyone and that it doesn't need to come from a conventional background.
What is your favorite business-related quote?
I love quotes! And I have a lot that fall into the business side of my life. For me, being successful in business is not about having one fantastic idea and becoming immediately successful.
Being successful in business is more about how comfortable you with are failing. How many times will you get up off the floor when you fail when it didn't work the way you had hoped? When you take that financial hit or the hit to your self-confidence, will you keep pushing and learning to get better? It’s a question of grit.
That is encapsulated in my favorite quote that keeps me going:
“The difference between a master and a beginner is that the master has failed more times than the beginner has ever tried.”
